Disability Initiative Workgroup

The Benefit Bank project at United Cerebral Palsy in Pittsburgh - UCP is a national leader providing services and advocating for people with all kinds of disabilities. The agency has grown to include a central Community Service Center, Vocational and Residential Services, an Attendant Care and Nursing Home Transitions Program, the UCP Kids program, the Elks Home Nurse Program, the Legal Consultation program, Community Partners Program, the Benefit Bank and others. UCP’s CEO, Dr. Al Condeluci has written a number of books on disability and inclusion, among them: Interdependence, Beyond Difference, and Cultural Shifting.

UCP/CLASS has provided this service for four previous tax seasons. Money in Your Pocket Coalition meets regularly at the UCP/CLASS building to coordinate county wide efforts. The Advent, no fee free debit card, which can accept tax refund direct deposits is being investigated for use this coming tax season. Energy Assistance Applications (LIHEAP) and the PA Property Tax and Rent Rebate Application will be completed for those who are eligible and wish to file for these benefits
